Kitchen & Bath Flooring FAQs

Which type of tile is best for kitchen & Bathroom floor? Depending on the use of your kitchen space, either porcelain tiles or natural stone tiles would be the best tiles for a kitchen floor. Both of these options are hard wearing and durable enabling them to withstand considerable wear over time

What is the most durable tile for kitchen & Bathroom floor? Porcelain floor tile has sand added to the clay mixture and is made with heat and pressure to produce a tile that's harder, denser and less porous than regular ceramic tile. It's a good choice for high-traffic areas, kitchens and bathrooms. It's tough enough to be used outdoors in any climate

Which is better for kitchen tile or vinyl flooring? Both vinyl plank and ceramic tile are known to be durable flooring options. However, ceramic can chip and crack over time. Ceramic tile is more prone to damage (think dropping something heavy on the surface) than vinyl plank. Vinyl plank is also a better option if you have children or pets.

What is a disadvantage of ceramic tile for a kitchen? Ceramic tiles are extremely hard. While the hardness of ceramic is considered to be an added value, as it makes them easier to clean and maintain, there is also a downside. The hardness makes it uncomfortable to stand on them, while the kitchen is an area where the user has to stand for a prolonged period

What type of bathroom floor tile is not slippery? The top choice for non-slip flooring is definitely vinyl. If you're working with a bigger budget, natural stone is the ideal anti-slip bathroom flooring option. You may not find cork or bamboo flooring in bathrooms often, but they are a good option for certain bathroom settings.

Should bathroom floor tile be matte or glossy? This one is simple (especially when it comes to the bathroom floor and a shower floor pan). You want to use a matte finish. In technical terms matte finishes have a 'higher coefficient of friction' (technical term for slip-resistance). That's the same reason you won't see slick surfaces used in your outdoor patio

What is the safest bathroom flooring for seniors? Rubber Flooring Is Number One Rubber flooring is a wonderful option for seniors because it is slip-resistant even when it is wet, making it the safest choice. Another great benefit is its absorbency. If someone were to fall on rubber flooring, it would most likely be less painful than hard surfaces
